The 1st Golfo Festival 2024, in collaboration with the Deputy Mayor's Office for Public Relations –Communication – Protocol – Events of the Municipality of Aegialia, and the Community of Mesorougio, are organizing —after a century— and with particular emotion, a divine service and memorial for the repose of the soul of the great Achaean creator Spyridon Peresiadis, at the Church of the Virgin Mary in his birthplace (Mesorougi, Achaea), as well as events in the village square that bears his name.

The tribute is being organized to mark the 170th anniversary of the birth of the honored creator (1854) and the 131st anniversary of the presentation of his play "Golfo" (Akrata 1893).

Local residents read poems from Peresiadis' collection “New Laurels – Poems of the Balkan War 1912-1913.” Songs from that period are performed by composer, researcher, and performer Sakis Papadimitriou. Folk songs from Chelmos are also performed by local amateur singers.

Nikos Karathanos, actor and director of the now historic play “Golfo” by the National Theater (2013), will pay tribute to the honored author.

As part of the Tribute, and for the first time, the author's books are exhibited in the place where he lived, where he may have "conceived" some of the heroes and characters of his works, where he shaped some of the plots and actions of his protagonists, where he dictated the creations of his imagination to relatives and friends, so that they could then make their way to the printers, become books, and finally find their way into the hands of the reading public.

The valuable first editions of these books were provided for exhibition (and republication) by Mr. Andreas Fouras.

The presentation of the entire tribute is by Ms. Anthi Pambouki, with the participation of the following organizations: the Cultural Association of Akrata "The Renaissance," the Progressive Association of Akrata "Georgios Lefentarios," and the Association "O Chelmos."

The tribute concludes with refreshments and lunch.
