25.10.2024, Department of Theater Studies, University of Patras

Updated: 30-07-2024 13:40

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture

Maria Fragki, Scientific Director and member of the Laboratory of Stage Action and Speech, Department of Theater Studies, University of Patras, is organizing and coordinating a Scientific Meeting with theoretical presentations on comedy, dramatic idyll, and other theater genres, as well as approaches related to heroes, authors, the era, etc.

The Meeting is being held to mark the 170th anniversary of the birth of Spyridon Peresiadis in Mesorougi, Achaea, and the 130th anniversary of the first performance of his play "Golfo" and aims to research both the text and the performative influence and diversity it has had over its long history (1893-2023). The speakers and presenters who responded thoroughly examine the transformations of the dramatic text into other genres (cinema, poetry, prose, shadow theater, etc.), its intertextual presence, its course in the diaspora, and its reception in the 21st century with many performances and proposals.
