HOTEL HELMOS
A century of modern Greek life has passed through its rooms.
The Theatre Laboratory of Scenic Practice and Speech at the Department of Theatre Studies, University of Patras, in collaboration with the 2nd Golfo Festival 2025 and within the framework of Golfo in Progress II – Research in Theatrical Practice (2025), invites aspiring, emerging, and debut playwrights to submit original plays in Greek.
Stories may be set in the evocative setting of Hotel Helmos, with a key criterion being a creative engagement with the legacy of Golfo—free from rigid constraints or literal adaptation.
The top three selected plays will be fully staged in Patras, Athens, and other cities. Additional noteworthy works will be presented in staged readings.
Direction will be undertaken by graduates or final-year students from the Directing Program of the National Theatre Drama School, with performances by students from drama schools.
